About the Studio

We are building the next generation of gameplay-driven interactive entertainment. Our studio focuses on acquiring and evolving legacy gaming IP that helped define entire eras of players. We seek out franchises with proven impact and passionate communities, and bring them forward using modern technology, deeper gameplay systems, and a player-first design philosophy.

Our current project centers around a well-known legacy sports IP that previously sold millions of copies. Our goal is not simply to recreate what existed before, but to evolve it — pushing gameplay systems, design, and competitive depth to a new level. We believe the best games emerge when technical excellence, physics engines, and player-first design intersect.

The Role

We are looking for a Multiplayer and Online Systems Engineer who understands that in a competitive game, the network is part of the experience. Lag is not just a technical problem — it is a design problem. Latency is not just a number — it is the difference between a punch that feels earned and one that feels stolen.

You will own the systems that make our game feel fair, responsive, and alive when players are competing against each other.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement the multiplayer architecture for a physics-driven, fast-paced competitive game
  • Own replication strategy, lag compensation, and client-server synchronization for gameplay systems including physics interactions, player controls, and special mechanics
  • Build and maintain matchmaking, lobby, and session management systems
  • Integrate online platform services across target platforms
  • Collaborate closely with gameplay engineers to ensure networked systems preserve the feel of local play as much as possible
  • Profile and optimize network performance — bandwidth, tick rate, latency tolerance
  • Build tools that help the team test and debug multiplayer scenarios efficiently

Qualifications

  • Deep experience with Unreal Engine networking — replication, GameState, RPCs, and prediction
  • Strong understanding of client-server architecture and the tradeoffs involved in competitive multiplayer
  • Experience shipping a multiplayer title on console or PC
  • Proficiency in C++ and Unreal Engine 4 or 5
  • Strong grasp of the relationship between network performance and player-perceived game feel
  • Experience with online platform SDKs and certification requirements

Bonus Experience

  • Experience on arcade, sports, or physics-heavy multiplayer games
  • Experience with dedicated server infrastructure and deployment
  • Familiarity with anti-cheat systems and competitive integrity tooling
  • Experience designing for variable network conditions — making games feel good even when the connection isn't

Why Join Us

Multiplayer is where this game lives or dies. The moments that define it — the clutch pitch, the cheap shot, the comeback — only matter if the network makes them feel real. You will own that. In a small studio where every role has direct impact, this one shapes whether players come back tomorrow.

If you care about competitive integrity and want to build something players will still be talking about years from now, we want to talk.
